MAY 2011: Ok, it’s just a pile of wood at the moment,
but soon it’ll be a pile of wood with some screws in it!

Time lapse video of Day One of the build …

Day Two onwards …

Day 9 – Fitting the rear lights … (and yes, those indicators are made using old jaffa cake cellophane wrappers! 🙂

  2. nice idea, and looks like great fun. how are you planning it to stay afloat? or will it literally be submarining to the bottom of the ocean?

    • Pallets with large, inflatable tubes / rings strapped to them give the floatation we need 🙂 There’ll be pics of the compeleted raft on the site on Saturday / Sunday.

  3. I think the concept is a brillianty funny one and i really hope you do well and more importantly enjoy it. We all lusted after that car in the Spy Who Loved Me and now you get to have your own little piece all be it, not quite as sexy, but hey at least you have done it on your terms!!!

    • Thanks Adam, I’m really looking forward to the first race on Sunday and I quite like the idea of making this my permanent mode of transport on the land / sea.

I could fix 2 bikes into the shell so I can transport it to the beach under it’s own steam then use the pedal power to turn some real propellers at the back 🙂

I might even go the whole hog one day and fit it with an engine and try to sail the channel. Maybe that’s next year’s silly challenge!
