Flotus is taking shape

As this weekend was lovely and sunny it meant that work on the FLOTUS could move on a stage further.

With the sun beating down though, the reflection from the white correx board was really intense.  It was impossible to look at it without very dark sunglasses!  I don’t know why I chose to make something that’s blinding in the sunshine.

The car is really starting to take shape so now it’s beginning to resemble an actual Lotus Esprit!

See the Video page for the latest time-lapse film.

    • Not yet. I’m hoping that, like last year’s raft, it’ll float first time! 🙂

I’m using the same floatation method (pallets with massive, inflatable rings attached) as last year’s raft and that floated really well – despite weighing 100s of kilos 🙂

The FLOTUS shell only weighs about 30 kilos so floatation shouldn’t be an issue. Sturdiness. Now THAT may be an issue!

  2. Love it…. I hope that you have an attractive Russian co-pilot who saw your blueprints during the design phase and can help you out if you get in trouble whilst on the water. 😉
